We sent in our application to adopt an orphan from China to an agency in Colorado. It was a family decision we came to after much soul-searching, discussion and research. We were absolutely thrilled and so excited! At the time, the wait was 8-10 months from submitting your paperwork (this took us about 6 months). Our new child would be home with us by Christmas of 2007, or so we thought.
We never dreamed for one minute that we would wait longer than 18 months to bring our much-wanted daughter/sister home as the wait had been consistently around 6-12 months for the 17 years China adoption had been in existence. Well, as you can see, here we are, 3 years on and STILL waiting for a referral from China. At this time there are about 25 families ahead of us waiting to be matched in our agency, so we are slowly getting there! I won't bore you with all the details regarding the delays but I do want to let it be known that 3 years on we are still wholeheartedly committed to this journey of faith, hope and love to bring our daughter home. We know she is out there waiting for us and we remain patient (most of the time) and steadfast in our belief that this is the path we are meant to be on. We know some are questioning our decision but rest assured, this too will pass and one day we will rejoice when she is in our arms and with her forever family.
