All is going really, really well. Ruby is thriving and the boys (and us of course) are totally in love. Her personality is so fun and she's a happy girl who loves us already. She just needed a family to love her. We are so incredibly thrilled and thankful. It feels like we've had her forever! Can't believe it's only been a week. She is now leaning over to kiss Tim and is laughing with him, but that's it. He's working so hard to try and get her to come to him but she's not ready yet. We are fine with that. She sleeps 12-13 hours a night and wakes up smiling! That's a first for us. Let's hope it continues in Colorado! She may be tiny, BUT... she EATS like a horse, I honestly don't know where she puts it. We ate Thai the other night, she ate a bowl of congee (rice with scallops, veggies, shrimp) plus some of Liam's Pad Thai, my Massaman curry (spicy as heck) and some of Tim's deep fried fish. She also loves Dim Sum, porridge, chicken, onions, raisins, croissants, banana nut muffins.....the list goes on.We've been exploring the city a bit. We walked off the island yesterday and were hit by REAL China again. We are in a cocoon here on in a 5 star hotel on Shamian Island which has lots of Colonial British and French links. We experienced markets selling stuff you wouldn't believe live scorpions, rats on a stick... we took video and pix so will share when on my own computer...this is too tiny and it's hard to navigate. The boys are getting such a kick out of it all and it's a great cultural experience for them.Today we took a taxi to a city park off the island. The boys went on a ton of fair ground rides and we walked a lot. Very hot and humid, but the boys had fun. Here's a few more pix. We have our oath at the American Consulate tomorrow and will be on our way to Hong Kong immediately after.

What? You didn't want to try to rat on a stick? It is much better if you get it glazed :)
Glad that Ruby is at least entertaining Tim, that is very important! Getting home & getting in a routine will be a completely different story :) Once she sees "this is it", she will hopefully let her guard down more!
Safe Travels to Hong Kong!
WOW! What progress your little Ruby is making. Yes, she needed the love of your family to give her the confidence to bloom. I can't wait to see how she continues to open up and express that beautiful personality that God has birthed deep within her. I am so happy that Tim is experiencing some affection and that you guys are enjoying The Island. We loved being there. I pray that you will continue to make such wonderful memories of your time in China. I love the picture of you and Ruby...absolutely beautiful. The contentment in both of your faces brings a warmth to my heart that reminds me of how perfect are the ways of the Lord. Have a wonderful day!

I am enjoying your pictures! wow, rat on a stick... wish I could get some of those here :)
That is so wonderful that Ruby is fitting in just perfectly! Will continue to pray that she will be able to let her guard down and trust to be held by her daddy.
Blessings,
Pam
I posted my wiseacre rat on a stick comment in the wrong place! Ah well. Sarah, would you allow me to republish it on my blog? I'm just waiting and waiting to travel to Zuzu, and I could use some levity!

We're looking forward to having you home here in CO. I absolutely love the picture of you and Ruby! I can imagine it in black and white and framed- stunning! I'm so glad Ruby is doing well and that it sounds like the boys have enjoyed the trip. Safe travels home!
Take care,
Beth
